Description

Ingredients

Butter – 6 tablespoons

Butter creates a rich flavor while helping the marshmallows melt into a smooth mixture.

Mini Marshmallows – 16 ounces

Fresh mini marshmallows melt quickly and produce the softest texture.

Rice Krispies Cereal – 9 cups

The classic crispy rice cereal provides the signature crunch.

Red Gel Food Coloring – a few drops

Creates the vibrant red layer.

Blue Gel Food Coloring – a few drops

Produces a rich blue color without adding excess liquid.

Vanilla Extract – 1 teaspoon (optional)

Adds a subtle homemade flavor.

Red, White & Blue Sprinkles – ¼ cup

Perfect for decorating the tops of the treats.

Nonstick Cooking Spray or Extra Butter

For greasing the pan and spatula.


Instructions

  1. Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons butter with one-third of the marshmallows.
  3. Add blue gel food coloring and stir until evenly colored.
  4. Fold in 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal.
  5. Press gently into the prepared pan.
  6. Repeat the process without food coloring for the white layer.
  7. Carefully spread the white layer over the blue layer.
  8. Melt the remaining butter and marshmallows.
  9. Stir in red food coloring.
  10. Fold in the remaining Rice Krispies cereal.
  11. Spread evenly over the white layer.
  12. Sprinkle with red, white, and blue sprinkles.
  13. Cool for 30–45 minutes.
  14. Slice into 16 squares and serve.

  • Lightly press each layer into the pan to keep the treats fluffy.
