For the Beef

  • 500 g (1 lb) ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • For the Nachos
  • 200 g (7 oz) tortilla chips
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • ½ cup cooked black beans (optional)
  • Toppings (As Desired)
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Sliced jalapeños
  • Sliced black olives
  • Chopped green onions
  • Fresh cilantro
  • For Serving
  • Sour cream
  • Guacamole
  • Salsa


Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Cook the Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until soft. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Season the Beef: Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed. Stir in taco seasoning, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2–3 minutes until well combined.
  • Prepare the Nachos: Spread tortilla chips evenly on a baking tray or oven-safe dish.
  • Layer the Nachos: Sprinkle half the cheese over the chips. Add seasoned beef and black beans. Top with remaining cheese.
  • Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 8–10 minutes, or until cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  • Add Toppings: Remove from oven and add desired toppings like tomatoes, jalapeños, olives, and green onions.
